What's usually on the lot
Southern Maryland is truck country, so the pre-owned lot turns over a lot of them. On a typical week you will find F-150s in XL through Platinum trim, Super Duty F-250s and F-350s that came off farms and job sites, Rangers and Mavericks for people who do not need a full-size, and a rotating cast of other makes that came in on trade. Inventory changes daily. The live list is on leonardtownford.com, and the fastest way to check a specific truck is to text me the stock number.
What I check before I send you a truck
- Real tow rating. I pull the build from the VIN and confirm the axle ratio and tow package. A brochure maximum means nothing if the truck was not built for it.
- Frame and underbody. Trucks around here back down boat ramps into brackish water. I send undercarriage photos on anything you are serious about.
- 4x4 engagement. Transfer case, hubs, and a test in 4H and 4L, not just a dash light.
- Service history and CARFAX. Local one-owner trucks with records are the ones I push to the front of the line.
Shop by what you haul
Boat on a trailer: most F-150s with the tow package handle a bay boat; a big center console or a cabin cruiser wants a Super Duty. Job site: payload matters more than towing, and a crew cab short bed is the Southern Maryland favorite. Daily driver that occasionally hauls mulch: a Ranger or Maverick will save you a lot of fuel money on the 235 crawl.
Not sure which? Text me what you tow or haul and I will send you three trucks that fit, with the numbers.
