How to get a number today
- Text me a photo of your odometer and your VIN (driver's door jamb or windshield corner).
- Send a few photos: all four sides, interior, and anything you would want to know about if you were buying it.
- Tell me if you still owe money on it and roughly how much.
I will come back with a real number, usually the same day. If you want it in writing, come by and we will put it on paper after a quick walk-around. Text me your trade info or use the online trade tool.
What moves the number
- Miles and condition, obviously. Be honest about dents and warning lights; I will see them anyway and honesty keeps the number from dropping at the walk-around.
- Service records. A folder of receipts is worth real money.
- Demand. Trucks, SUVs, and clean commuters are in demand in Southern Maryland right now. Sedans with high miles less so.
- Title and payoff. If you owe more than the vehicle is worth, I will show you how that rolls into a new purchase, and whether it should.
Trading vs. selling outright
Trading your vehicle toward a purchase can reduce the taxable amount on the new vehicle in Maryland, which is real money. Selling outright gets you a check with no obligation. I will show you both numbers so you can choose.
